EMERGENCY PLAN AND FIRE EVACUATION PROCEDURE

(This forms part of my Health and Safety Policy)

In an emergency I will aim to keep calm and deal with the situation in the best way that I can.

I will assess the situation and decide if there is a need to call the emergency services.

If the emergency involves an injury to a child I will check the child and assess whether there is a need to begin CPR or treatment.

I will at all times ensure that all children are safe, and, if necessary, removed from the immediate area.

I will contact the parents of all the children and inform them of the situation. If the parents are not available I will leave a message and a contact number, and try to contact another “emergency contact”, who are on the child’s registration form.

If a child needs to go to hospital, I will try to leave any other children with a registered childminder. If this is not possible, I will leave them with another responsible adult.

If the emergency if a fire, I will follow my “evacuation procedure” as stated below:-

In the event of a fire

  • If a fire is discovered in the kitchen or main bedroom, exit the house by the front door. Take mobile telephone and use this to call emergency services.
  • Front Door key is located on the hook to the right of the front door.
  • Head to locate shops for assistance
  • If a fire is discovered in the bathroom, bedroom 2 or front room, exit the house by the back door. Take mobile telephone and use this to call emergency services.

  • N.B: Parents contact numbers are programmed into my mobile telephone.
