Statement of intent

 

I Laura Scales believe that all children have equal right to the benefits and opportunities of our society.

Within our communities there are individuals who, because of their disabilities, experience disadvantage and discrimination. I am committed to ensuring fair and equal access for all individuals to my service and providing an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential.

 

Aims

  • I understand that compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act is a legal requirement and I have regard for this Act.
  • I am willing to include all children in my provision, providing I can meet the children’s needs.
  • I am able to help and support parents/carers and children with disabilities.
  • I work in partnership with parents/carers in meeting individual children’s needs.
  • I monitor and review my practice and provision and keep my DDA policy up to date.

 

Methods

  • I am willing to develop a Care Plan with parents/carers to meet any additional needs required by their child/ren which will be reviewed regularly.
  • I will ensure that I am responsible for the provision for children with disabilities.
  • I will ensure equality of access and opportunity.
  • I will ensure that my physical environment is as far as possible suitable for children and parents/carers with disabilities.
  • I will provide a broad and balanced range of activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of all the children.
  • I will use a system of keeping records of the additional needs of children with disabilities.
  • I will ensure the privacy of children with disabilities when intimate care is being provided.
  • I will take any complaints about my provision seriously and ensure that I can put right the issue drawn to my attention.
  • I will review my procedures and plan regularly to meet the needs of all children.
  • I will endeavour to keep up to date with current practice and legislation.
  • I will continue to adhere to and review my policy.
